Finance Committee

The Finance Committee makes a monthly review of the library's expenditures and each winter works with library staff to develop the annual budget. The committee helps to rank and prioritize projects and services. Unfunded capital needs are prioritized.

Planning Committee

The Planning Committee plans for new library buildings, and expansions or renovations of existing libraries. Their work is done with the Library's mission and Long-Range plan in mind. They serve in an advisory capacity on matters such as property acquisition for future libraries, partnership opportunities, and planning for future demands and changes in library services for Hillsborough County.

Policies and ByLaws Committee

This committee is responsible for developing policies and by-laws for both the library board and the library system. Meetings are held on an as needed basis.

Several Library Board members work with the Hillsborough County Public Art Committee to assist with the selection of public art for new libraries.

Nominating Committee

Each year, the Chair of the Library Board appoints a three-member Nominating Committee responsible for recommending a slate of candidates for officer positions. Officers of the Library Board include Chair, Vice-Chair,and Secretary and are elected by majority vote during the annual August meeting. No member of the board is permitted to serve more than two consecutive years in the same position.
